Please contact Alice Reeves, our LTS Administrator if you are interested in a trial at [email protected]
We are a Not for Profit Learn to Swim School that is part of Rushmoor Royals Swimming Club and are SwimMark Accredited. We predominately work serving residents of Yateley, Aldershot, Farnborough and surrounding areas.
We have a teaching team made up of Lead Teachers,Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Lifeguards, Water Helpers, Admin Coordinator and Pool Receptionists. As we are part of a competitive swimming club, the majority of our teachers are, or have been swimmers themselves and some have reached National Standard. So are very knowledgable about what is needed to achieve the specific skills.
All of our teachers have achieved a Swim England Level 1 or Level 2 qualification. They all hold and regularly update their safeguarding certificates as well as renewing their enhanced DBS check every 3 years. They are encouraged to seek additional CPD opportunities and regularly attend in-house training by a Royal Lifesaving Society Trainer Assessor to keep their lifesaving knowledge up to date.
Since 2020, our LTS Programme has more than doubled in size. We take children from 3 years until they finish our programme. Once swimmers have achieved this goal, we will give them the opportunity to trial and join our Academy Programme which is part of our competitive swimming club.
Our Learn to Swim lessons follow the Swim England syllabus 'Stages 1-7'. It is the most widely known swimming lessons for children and is the backbone of lessons for Primary School Children.
Our teacher to swimmer ratio is as follows:
Ducklings, Stage 1 and 2 are taught by a teacher, assisted by 2 water helpers in the water (3:6)
Stage 3 classes are taught by a teacher, assisted by 1 water helper in the water (2:6)
Stage 4 & 5 classes are taught by a teacher poolside to max of 7 children
Stage 6 and 7 are taught by a teacher poolside to a max of 10 children
We feel it is important to get to know our customers on an individual basis in order to tailor the lessons to their individual needs.
Swim England recommends that children do not just stop going to lessons once they can swim. Increasing their competence in the water helps to make sure they keep themselves safe.
